Is Jesus Enough?
Have you ever felt the weight of something physical you cannot fix? Or perhaps you are struggling with depression or anger and are trying to overcome it in your own strength. Join us today as one of our guest bloggers, Tish Kerby, walks us through the answer to this title question.
I have been thinking about this question a lot―just this year, I watched a lady in our church go through losing her husband in a horrible car accident while they were driving to Sunday School. I have seen a friend with kids my kids’ age go through a diagnosis and chemotherapy for stage four cancer. I have seen a friend hurt by a Christian ministry and broken promises, and another friend lose their job for no reason. There are days I look around and can feel overwhelmed with heartache, loneliness, and devastation all around us.
When we see people suffer in a broken, sin-filled world … is Jesus enough?
In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Paul describes a “thorn in his flesh” … we don’t know if it was a physical pain or a character flaw, but it was something he felt was hindering him. It was something that caused him sorrow. It was something he couldn’t overcome despite all his best man-made efforts.
Instead of removing the circumstance, God may move us through the circumstance.
Can you relate? Have you ever felt the weight of something physical you cannot fix? Or perhaps you are struggling with depression or anger and trying to overcome it in your own strength. Paul finally stopped trying to fix it himself. Instead, he asked God to take care of it, but God answers Paul’s prayer by saying, “My grace is sufficient for you. My power is made perfect in your weakness.” Paul had to come to terms with the fact that Jesus is enough. His “thorn” was still there―but he was no longer striving. He rested on the fact that God was with him. Instead of removing the circumstance, God may also move us through the circumstance.
There is such hope in this realization. People need to remember this truth ―life can be hard, but Jesus is enough. He is enough for the lost soul who needs hope and for the saved individual who is struggling to glorify Him daily. He is enough to save us from hell and to hold us up when we feel overwhelmed. He is the God above all other gods and the only one truly worthy of our time and praise.
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon him; for He cares for you.
Ephesians 3:20
Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD they God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
Yes, Jesus is more than enough. May these truths help encourage you to trust Him with all of your life. Stay Bold!

Discerning truth from error is one of the most powerful weapons believers can arm themselves with when it comes to pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (1 Peter 3:15; 2 Corinthians 10:4–5).
