About Reasons for Hope
- Reasons for Hope was founded in January 2011 by a board of four men— Randy Baker, Paul Gracey, Carl Kerby and Wade Wacker.
- Reasons for Hope is a 501(c)(3) ministry of Christian apologetics.
- Reasons for Hope takes a three-pronged approach to globally communicate its message of the hope found only in Jesus Christ and its mission of equipping, empowering and encouraging believers in their faith:
…sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.
1 PETER 3:15
Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired, authoritative and inerrant Word of God. It is the final rule and authority for everything in life. (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, John 8:30-31, Hebrews 4:12)
We believe in One infinite and personal God, who eternally exists as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God is the Creator, Sustainer, Savior and Judge. While acknowledging the unity of the Godhead, we believe the Father planned salvation, the Son accomplished salvation and the Holy Spirit applies salvation. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 40, Ephesians 1:3-14, Hebrews 9:14, 1 Peter 1:1-2, Isaiah 43:11-13, Revelation 20:11-15)
We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ. He will return bodily to earth to judge both the living and the dead. Unbelievers then will be judged and spend eternity separated from God in hell while believers will be rewarded with eternal fellowship with God in heaven. (Acts 1:9-11, Revelation 19-22, Philippians 3:20-21, 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17)
We believe that man was created in the image of God and was designed to live in perfect fellowship with him, but because of Adam's sin all men are now sinners by nature and choice and are in need of salvation. We believe that salvation is granted to all who repent and is achieved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. (Genesis 1-3, Mark 1:15, Acts 20:21, Romans 5:12-21, Romans 3:21-26, Romans 10:9, 2 Corinthians 7:10, Ephesians 2:8-9)
We believe Jesus Christ is the unique God-Man. Jesus, who is truly God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to make atonement for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended to the Father's right hand. We believe that Jesus is the Lord of all believers and intercedes as High Priest on their behalf. Jesus will soon appear to be recognized and confessed by all as the all-powerful, reigning King. (John 1:1-18, Luke 2:1-20, Hebrews 4:14-16, 1 Peter 3:18, Hebrews 10:1-18, 1 Corinthians 15, Ephesians 1:20-22, Luke 6:46, John 13:13, John 20:28, 2 Corinthians 4:5, Revelation19-20)
We believe that because of man's sin God's creation was cursed. The result of sin is death, both physical and spiritual as well as suffering, which we see all around us. Man's rebellion broke the perfect fellowship that God had designed which ultimately led to despair and hopelessness. Man's wickedness in fact increased to such a point that God destroyed the entire world except for Noah and those on the ark with a global flood. (Genesis 3, Genesis 6-8, Romans 8:22)
We believe that we are called by God to give reasons for the hope that is within us. For without God's Word there is no true faith and where there is no faith there is no hope. (Romans 5:3-4, Romans 10:17, 1 Peter 3:15)
We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts men of their need for salvation and permanently indwells believers and He is the source of power and fruitfulness in living the Christian life. (John 16:1-15, John 3:1-8, Romans 8:1-16, Galatians 5:12-26)
We believe that God created everything from nothing by His Word. He accomplished this in six consecutive ordinary days. (Genesis 1, Exodus 20:11)
