Assignment Time: Darwin Day!
Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
Romans 1:25
This Saturday, February 10 an atheist group called the Tri-State Freethinkers is celebrating Darwin Day (February 12) with a Scavenger Hunt and Fireside Chat at the local zoo and botanical garden.
To be honest, I’m disappointed in myself. I’m disappointed because I didn’t plan far enough out to do something special for the day. I’m not trying to be snarky or sarcastic, I’m serious.
I remember as a young Christian listening to a Christian radio program and hearing the host ask the question “Are Christians willing to do for the truth what cults are willing to do for a lie?” Unfortunately I’d have to answer that by saying, No!
So, I am committing that in honor of Darwin Day 2019 I will be leading folks on a tour through the Cincinnati Zoo. Lord Willing of course! If He comes home or takes me home I’ll miss it of course. We’ll work the dates out, but it’s officially on the calendar as of this writing.
Because I wasn’t organized well enough for this year though I thought I’d give you one of my favorite quotes by Charles Darwin. It’s found engraved in the wall at the East Entrance of the Chicago Field Museum.
This April when we’re leading our Field Museum Training we’ll point this out to those who attend. (By the way, if you’re considering joining us on this training please hurry and sign up. I’m down to the last 10 spots!!! It’s filled up very quickly.)
I’m including the page from the training book that folks will receive on our training so you can also do this lesson even if you don’t attend. If you’re coming, you’re ahead of the game!. See below:

“From so simple a beginning, endless forms most beautiful and wonderful have been and are being evolved” Charles Darwin
Here’s your assignment.
When you have your answers, please post them on the Reasons for Hope Facebook page. I’m interested to see what you come up with. You may be surprised.
Here’s my challenge to you. Keep your eyes open to what’s going on around us. Find a way that we can use what we’re seeing in the culture to speak truth. This year, they’re using the zoo to promote Charles Darwin and evolution. Which, by the way, they do every day of the year.
I’ve been leading tours through zoo’s and museums for years using the secular exhibits to teach the truth about God and His Word. I’ve missed this opportunity and have decided to not let it happen again. Thanks to my daughter who sent me the advertisement for this secular outreach and spurring me to step up.
Am I willing to do for the truth what others are willing to do for a lie? I hope so and will continue to try and do so, by the grace of God. And yes, the teaching of evolution is a lie! The evidence overwhelmingly supports that God created the way that He said that He did in His Word.
Get engaged! Let us know what you find on the above quote. And most importantly, Stay Bold!
