In the midst of “crazy” we should be the light!
Hey Everyone,
One of the greatest blessing in ministry is seeing others get excited about their faith and doing ministry themselves. God has blessed us by allowing us to see first hand folks answering the call to serve in a variety of ways.
Let me introduce you to my friend Rich. He’s on staff at Calvary Chapel Lone Mountain in the Las Vegas area.
When the shootings happened recently I immediately called him to check on their folks. They’ve blessed us over the years by allowing us to speak there and it’s been such an encouragement to be with them for sure.
Praise God no one at the church had been hurt in the shooting. They were trying to figure out what they could do to be a blessing to others at that point.
Well, here’s what Rich sent to me shortly after the call and they’d figured things out:
Hey Carl.
I wanted to give you a little update on what has been happening in Las Vegas. We have seen a huge outpouring of support from all over the world, from all types of people. I cannot believe that a place like Las Vegas is coming together to support and love on each other during this tragedy. It is truly amazing.
Our church was able to visit some of the victims in the hospital. But last week Thursday, the Lord led us to the memorial sites. We have been camped out there from 11am-10pm everyday for the past 9 days and plan to continue. The “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign memorial site which has 58 crosses placed there for the victims who were killed in the shooting. Thousands of people stop there every day! We are handing out water, have a prayer tent, and live worship music playing. We are able to pray with about a thousand people a day. We have met family members, friends, and coworkers of those who were killed, people who were at the event and made it out safely, people who were shot or injured, those who were supposed to be there but for various reasons were not able to make it to concert, to tourists, or local people stopping buy to pay their respects.
We also send a team of people to stop and pray at each cross daily for the family members, friends, and co-workers who are hurting due to their loss.
We have seen so much fruit, people recommitting their lives to the Lord, people getting saved, but mostly people feeling the love of Jesus through our teams that are there, hugging them, sitting with them, crying with them, comforting them. It has been the hardest thing (emotionally) I have ever been a part of, but definitely the most rewarding.
God is moving mightily at this site and am honored to be a tiny little part of His work.
Thank you again for calling to check up on us when you did.
Rich P.
By the way, he also told me that they started with only 2 churches and that 5 more have now joined them in this outreach!
Praise God! Even in the midst of “crazy” we can be a light.
As I was typing that last line something hit me. Weird, I know. I’m fine with being weird but this is truly what came to mind so please allow me to rephrase that last sentence.
ESPECIALLY in the midst of “crazy” we should be the light!
Shine for someone today!
Stay Bold,
Carl K.
