Pleasant Words!
God commands us to be kind to one another. And, by the way, that includes those who don’t like us!
When you travel as much as I do and go to so many different places you can start to wonder if what you’re doing is truly having an impact. I have the greatest appreciation and respect for Pastors who pour themselves into the local body. I’ve just been called to a different ministry at the present time.
Now, I know that success in ministry is based on obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ and not on responses from others, but I still have my struggles. So, when I get a message like the one from Jonah, it sticks with me and definitely lifts my spirits. Let me share his message with you:
Hi, my name is Jonah C. and I am a part of Louisville Baptist Temple. I will be a Sophomore in high school this year coming up. HOPE was introduced to us ever since hearing Reasons for Hope last year at RUSH Camp 2012! Our youth group has only grown closer to each other and closer to God. Before RUSH camp this year the guys in our youth group re-watched the Becoming Bold series and that encouraged us a lot.
RUSH camp this year also helped us out. We were able to grow a lot closer to each other and God this year. We were just a “normal” youth group.
After we got back from camp this year the high school guys started a Bible study ever Wednesday night after youth group. This is 100% student run. We go to each others houses and just hang. We were able to all share our testimonies and be 100% honest with each other. I learned that within our 10 guys we have people that struggle with everything or went through a lot (drugs, alcohol, sex, immortality, porn, homosexuality, being cold hearted because of terrible family lives, depression, suicidal thoughts… just everything) Because of this we are able to hold each other accountable.
This is the first time ever in my life where I feel like its all real and I KNOW that God is with us 100% all the time. I would no longer see our youth group as “normal”, I would see what Gods doing through us to be unbelievable. We are growing spiritually and in numbers. We are Bold! This is true Hope.
Thank you Reasons for Hope for starting this fire in Louisville Ohio, that will and is changing our lives forever.
What a blessing. So, where’s the “Random Thought” in this? Well, as I looked at this note it challenged me to think about the words that I use.
Proverbs 16:42 teaches us that:
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Proverbs 19:22 reinforces this with:
What is desired in a man is kindness,
May this reminder to me also remind you to make sure the words that we’re using should be pleasant and kind. Even if we’re in a disagreement! Lord help me to learn that lesson quickly. Thanks Jonah!!
Stay bold and gracious,
